EFFoST pushes the production of sustainable and healthy food by facilitating knowledge exchange. EFFoST enables food scientists and technologists, businesses in food and food-related areas and European policymakers to deploy new technologies and developments to their advantage The channels that we have are 3 official peer-reviewed journals, the SME oriented online magazine ‘Taste of Science’, our yearly International Conference, our newsletter, our social media accounts, EU funded projects, our Special Interest Groups and our network of 130 affiliated societies, institutes and universities all over Europe.

We are looking for a Communication Officer. An energetic communicator with preferably a background in food science or technology. As a communication officer you will work closely with the EFFoST team of 6 people working on different EU funded research projects. You will have significant opportunity for project related travel within Europe, and will operate in a dynamic international environment. You are familiar with the latest (digital) trends in the field and you can make movies. You monitor deadlines and consider innovative ways to bring issues to the attention.

Activities:
• Contribute to the analysis of topics of relevance to food science and technology;
• Design, manage, implement and follow-up of a communication strategy aimed at further development of the knowledge and technology transfer activities of EFFoST;
• Implements and manages digital media (content marketing, social media, look and feel);
• Represent EFFoST at seminars and conferences;
• Maintain, strengthen and expand the European network of member societies, partner organizations, food industry and food researchers;
• Handle the administrative tasks within EU projects with regard to the dissemination and communication activities;
• Organize and carry out office management related activities within the organization

Required Knowledge: 

• BSc or MSc in food science and technology or a relevant academic field;
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar function;
• Good oral, visual and written communication skills;
• Experience with the deployment of social media;
• Experience in drafting communications plans;

You are also solution-oriented, you dare to take the initiative and you are a networker.

• A very good knowledge of English, both orally and in writing;
• You can work independently and multi-task;
• Flexible, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Additional information: 

A fixed-term contract with a working time of 32 hours. An attractive remuneration package will be offered to suitable candidates based on education and experience. Period contract: 1 year (probation 1 month) with a view, with proven suitability and complete job performance, on an extension of the contract.
